Dengue Claims Second Victim in four days

26-Year-Old Dies in Ahmedabad...


The city is facing a fresh outbreak of dengue, with a 26-year-old person passing away on Tuesday. This is the second dengue-related death in just four days, as an 11-year-old girl lost her life to the disease on Saturday.

 

The 26-year-old who passed away was under treatment for dengue at L.G. Hospital. The increasing number of cases at the city's hospitals is causing concern for municipal health authorities.

 

According to data from the civic body, the city has seen 2,004 cases of dengue from January 2023 to October 8, 2023. In addition to dengue, there have been 890 cases of regular malaria, 78 cases of toxic malaria, and 47 cases of chikungunya.

 

Furthermore, there has been a noticeable increase in water-borne diseases in the city, which is presenting an additional challenge for health authorities. In the same timeframe, from January 2023 to October 8, 2023, the city has recorded 5,491 cases of diarrhea and vomiting, 1,365 cases of jaundice, 3,414 cases of typhoid, and 80 cases of cholera.
