Disabled Muslim man lynched for eating prasad in temple

Tied to pole, beaten to death...


On Tuesday, a Muslim man with a disability was lynched in Delhi's Sundar Nagari neighborhood for reportedly eating Prasad at a nearby temple. According to authorities, a number of persons were detained in relation to the incident.

 

A video of the event that was extensively circulated on social media shows the young man, later identified as Muhammad Israr, pleading with the throng for assistance while sobbing in agony. The mob persisted in assaulting him nonetheless.

 

The victim's father, Abdul Wajid, claimed in his lawsuit that on Tuesday evening he discovered his son injured all over his body lying outside his home.

 

Israr reported to his father that he had been beaten with sticks and accused of stealing by a bunch of youngsters before being tied to a pole. Israr was carried to his home following the assault by one of his neighbors. He also told his father specifics about the assailants.

 

Later, Israr died from his wounds.

 

The police reported that an investigation into the event was ongoing and they were attempting to identify the suspects using CCTV footage and recordings taken on mobile devices.

 

According to the police, the early investigation indicates that the victim was mentally challenged and unable to respond to the attackers' questions.

 

To prevent any unpleasant situations, police were stationed in the neighborhood in the meanwhile.
