Dozens of people killed in Brazil by flood...

State government said that nearly 2,500 people remain homeless...


Brazilian state of Sao Paulo, the ratio of people killed in flooding and landslides are increased and risen to 44 rescue team continue searching for survivors.

 

On Tuesday, according to a statement by the state government, almost, 500 people have been homeless or displaced by disaster, along with rescue team ongoing. Many roads in the region remain blocked due to mudslides. 

 

The town of Sao Sebastiao was the hardest hit, bearing 43 of the 44 deaths after a torrent of mud and debris swept through the town, leaving homes inundated and residents combing through the wreckage.

 

When town received a record 600mm (24 inches) of rain in only 24 hours the flood arrived. On Monday, surveying the damage and meeting with local officials, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva stated that the tragedy underscores the need for more careful building practices.

 

With factors like, poor construction or development natural disaster become more dangerous or deadly, in areas affected to flooding. 

 

In Brazil almost 9.5 million people are estimated to live in areas which are high in risk for flooding and landslides, most of them in impoverished communities with improvised construction.
