East Delhi civic body starts toll-free service for e-waste collection and management

The amount related to e-waste will be fixed between the seller and the agency and the amount will be provided in the bank account.


For the cleanliness of the city, East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with an agency for the management and disposal of e-waste. By calling on a toll-free number (1800-102-9882). 21 different types of e-waste can be deposited. An employee from the Mayor of East Delhi named Shyam Sundar Agarwal, says the agency will reach the given area to collect the e-waste. Meanwhile, the amount related to e-waste will be fixed between the seller and the agency and the amount will be provided in the bank account he adds. Moreover, the other information related to this regard will be available on the website.

In the statement of the senior officer of EDMC says, the civic body has many fund crises and in this project, no expenditure or payment has been given  to the agency also for starting  their collection and transportation network through  the mobile app, collection vehicles or manpower.

Earlier relating to this in 2016 government has made rules, in ensuring eco-friendly management of electronic waste.Besides, east Delhi is the center for  e-waste recycling as the thing is all done in the unorganized sector.
