ED conducts raids at premises of Politician Mukhtar Ansari

ED conducted searches at his close associates too…

The Enforcement Directorate is conducting searches at all the premises linked to gangster Mukhtar Ansari and his close associates.

The searches are being conducted in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow, Ghazipur, and Mau districts.

Mukhtar Ansari’s residence in Mohammadabad, Ghazipur, is also being searched by the ED. The locations include the premises of Vikram Agrhari and Ganesh Mishra, associates of Mukhtar Ansari.

In UP, Mukhtar Ansari has more than 50 criminal cases against him. The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader is currently lodged in the Banda jail in Uttar Pradesh.

Ansari was lodged at Ropar jail in Punjab for the past two years in a case of alleged extortion. He was booked for extortion and criminal intimidation on a complaint by a real estate firm's chief executive officer (CEO).

Mukhtar Ansari came to light in 2021 when he used all his connections to make sure he stayed out of Uttar Pradesh. He spent several months in Punjab jails in an alleged extortion case for which he was not charge-sheeted by the police.

The Punjab Police also didn’t pay attention towards repeated warrants for his transfer to Uttar Pradesh.

Mukhtar Ansari was reportedly afraid that he could be killed in an encounter with the UP Police if he came back during Yogi Adityanath’s tenure as CM.

Finally, he was brought to Uttar Pradesh’s Banda jail and is currently there.

He was prepared to contest his fourth UP election from jail but at the last moment, his son Abbas Ansari filed his nomination from Mau Sadar.

Later on August 7, the Lucknow Police raided the residence of Mau Sadar MLA and Mukhtar Ansari's son Abbas Ansari in the Darulshafa area.
