Ex CM of Himachal Pradesh Virbhadra Singh dies

Former Himachal Pradesh leader minister and senior Congress chief Virbhadra Singh died in Shimla in the early hours of Thursday after an extended illness.


The veteran chief died at the age of 87 at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) at 3.40 am, senior clinical superintendent Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) Dr. Janak Raj said. He suffered from coronary heart assault on Monday and was admitted to the crucial care unit of IGMC. He was placed on a ventilator under the supervision of the medical doctors of the cardiology branch on Wednesday after he had a respiration problem, he added.

Mr.Virbhadra Singh tested positive for Covid-19 on April 12 and he allegedly contracted the virus again on June 11. Earlier, he was hospitalized at a medical institution in Chandigarh after he was examined for Coronavirus on April 12. Mr Singh was back home in Holly Lodge after the treatment on 30th April, after recovering from the primary infection. However he was admitted at IGMC a couple of hours after reaching home, as he complained of cardiac and respiratory problems. He was under treatment for the same till then

Mr Singh's wife Pratibha Singh and the son Vikramaditya Singh also are in politics. Mrs Pratibha Singh is a former MP, whilst Vikramaditya is a MLA from Shimla rural.
