Explosion near Israel embassy: Zero injury reported

Minor explosion took place on the evening of 29 January near Israel embassy


On the evening of 29th January around 5:00 pm a blast took place near Israel embassy on APJ Abdul kalam road, near Jindal house, which is among one of the VVIP’s area of Delhi with high security. This incident happened when the whole nation was celebrating the closing ceremony of Republic Day, Beating retreat which was held on Rajpath, a few kilometres away. This event marks the ending of Republic Day commemoration.

On this very day in 1992, diplomatic ties were made between India and Israel. It's not certain to say whether there’s such an angle involved in this incident or not. There’s not been any official statement released by the official as investigation is still on.

As soon as the incident took place police officers of the local area were informed and the investigation began. Deputy commissioner of police rushed immediately. No harm to life or any property was reported however windshields of few cars are broken. This blast was considered to be of low intensity.

Forensic investigation is still going on. Explosive samples from the site have been sent for further detailed enquiry of the chemical involved in the explosion. CCTV footage of nearby areas are also being investigated for behind the scene incident.

DCP SN Srivastav briefed Union Home Minister about the blast as well as Ajit Doval also kept the track for the same. There is no immediate information on whether the incident was a terror incident or not. It could be a disaster in other words, but given the explosion in the VVIP Zone, all teams are planning to investigate the incident. The device was found in the pot besides the road divider. An envelope has recovered from the site which states “To Israel embassy ambassador”. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he has full confidence in Indian authorities in ensuring the safety of Israel embassy and its diplomats.

Red alert has been issued. High security on airports, metro, government buildings to ensure safety from any future accident. Apart from Delhi Haridwar is also on high alert as ‘mahakumbh’ is approaching.
