Facebook (Meta) Developing VR Headset Prototypes For The Metaverse

Zuckerberg aims to achieve the “future beyond imagination” through new technology!

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is all set to showcase the new Virtual reality headsets. This will be able to achieve indistinguishable VR Visuals.

The Meta Reality Labs during a roundtable last week showcased the designs of such VR headsets.

The designs have been codenamed as Butterscotch, Starbust, Holocake 2, and Mirror Lake. The goal for these VR devices is to come up with something that could pass the “visual Turing Test."

This is basically the point where virtual reality is indistinguishable from the real world. Meta Reality Labs, during the roundtable also said that creating perfect VR headsets also involves perfecting resolution for users, more realistic colour depth, brightness, and shadows.

They further added that the headsets need to have variable focal depth and eye tracking.

This would help users to easily be able to focus upon the nearby as well as far away objects.

Better vision through fixation of optical distortions would be amended, which is something that the current lenses lack. “I think we’re in the middle right now of a big step forward towards realism,” Zuckerberg stated during the conference.

Holocake 2 headsets made by the company may turn out to be the lightest and easiest to wear for playing VR games as of now. Metaverse is still a vision to be brought into reality by Zuckerberg.

Hence, such technological innovations may add further to making this a reality for all.
