Fact-checker Mohammad Zubair faces FIR for ‘revealing’ identity of minor in viral video

No Arrest against Tripta Tyagi

Mohammad Zubair, a co-founder of Alt News, has been charged with a crime by the Uttar Pradesh Police for allegedly "revealing" the identity of the Muslim youngster in the viral video who was repeatedly hit and slapped by his classmates at the request of Tripta Tyagi, the principal of Neha Public School.

When Zubair posted a video of the incident on social media, the complainant Vishnu Dutt claimed that Zubair revealed the boy's identity.

In the allegation, it was said that Zubair had revealed the identity of the young kid who was being hit by his classmates. According to Senior Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Suman, the charge has been filed under section 74 of the 2015 Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act.

A Muslim boy in Class 2 was shown getting slapped by his classmates in a Friday video of the school's Tripta Tyagi, which went viral and drew international attention. The student was apparently being punished for not finishing his homework.

According to an India Today report, the Muslim youngster in Class 2 at Neha Public School said that he was hit for an hour because he didn't memorize his multiplication tables.

A case was registered against Tripta Tyagi on Saturday under sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) of the IPC on the complaint by the boy's family.

In her defense, Tripta Tyagi claimed that the student's uncle had taken the video, which had been altered to give the incident a communal color.

Although getting a student slapped by his classmates was wrong, according to Tripta Tyagi, she was compelled to do it since she is disabled and was unable to stand up and reach the student who had not completed their homework.
