Farmer unions call for Bharat Bandh on March 26

Protesters will be joined by trade unions as well on March 15 to protest against the fuel price hike, said farmers' unions.


Farmers' unions have called for 'Bharat Bandh' on March 26 that will mark the completion of four months of protest against the three agricultural laws. In the coming days, farmers will intensify their agitation against corporates through rallies and boycotts. Protesters will be joined by trade unions as well on March 15 to protest against the fuel price hike, said farmers' unions.

“Monday, March 15, will see protests and a memorandum will be given to SDMs and DMs against the rising prices of diesel, petrol, LPG and other essential commodities. We will also carry out protests at railway stations against privatisation,” said Dr Darshan Pal of Bharat Kisan Union (BKU). A joint convention will be held between farmer unions, trade unions and other mass organisations in the coming days in order to plan and prepare for the Bharat Bandh on March 26.

Farmer leader Buta Singh Burjgill said that on March 19, farmers will observe “Mandi Bachao-Kheti Bachao” day. He added that the unions have decided to celebrate the martyrdom of Bhagat Singh on March 23. Recently, on March 6, protesters had marked the 100th day of agitation with the demand for repeal of law
