Farmers in Delhi, protest with 'human skulls'

They demand two-time profitable prices of the crops, a pension of Rs 5,000 to farmers...

Around 200 farmers from Tamil Nadu have assembled at Jantar Mantar in Delhi to voice their concerns regarding crop prices and the interlinking of rivers.

While protesting some farmers have taken the extreme step of climbing a mobile tower to draw attention to their cause.

The farmers, armed with ploughs and flags have also brought skulls and bones which they claim belong to farmers who have taken their own lives due to the dire situation they face.

The protesters argue that despite the central government's promise to double agricultural income, crop prices have remained stagnant.

We demand two-time profitable prices of the crops, pension of Rs 5,000 to farmers, individual insurance and also interlinking of all rivers in India," a farmer said

In a statement, the farmers have declared that if their demands are not met, they will travel to Varanasi to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The protesters remain steadfast in their resolve to have their voices heard and their issues addressed by the government.
