Farmers protest: Delhi government increased security

Closed the gates of 9 stations on Tuesday...

Given the farmers’ protests and increased security at the Capital’s borders, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) closed the gates of 9 stations on Tuesday. The metro body cited security instructions for taking the action.

The Delhi Metro took to social media to inform commuters that some gates at Central Secretariat, Rajiv Chowk, Udyog Bhawan, Patel Chowk, Mandi House, Barakhamba Road, Janpath, Khan Market, and Lok Kalyan Marg were closed on Tuesday afternoon.

However, the stations remained operational with regular running of trains, DMRC officials said. Commuters were advised to plan their journey in accordance with the gate closures.

The DMRC then updated commuters later in the evening that all gates had been opened for entry and exit.

The Delhi Airport also issued an advisory on social media urging passengers to use the Metro to ensure timely arrival at the airport, considering traffic restrictions due to the protest.
