Farmers Suspend Budget Day March

Budget day March suspended by farmers.

Protesting farmers at various borders of the capital who are in demand of a complete roll back of the farm laws have declared on Wednesday that the plans of marching towards the parliament on Monday, February 1 when the country’s union budget will be presented have now been called off. This decision has been taken after the tractor parade on Republic day turned violent. For the violence that took place during the tractor rally the farmers placed the blame on the ‘miscreants’ and ‘agents of the government’. The violence erupted between the farmers and the authority mainly after the tractor rally deviated from the assigned routes and this further led to the death of a farmer and thousands injured.

One of the senior leaders of the farmers’ movement Balbir Singh Rajewal in a press conference at the Singhu border said “More the 2 lakh tractor joined the rally. 99.9 percent protestors were peaceful. It was a target of government’s conspiracy.” He also said that “These miscreants had declared they will go to the Red Fort. They have a deal with the government. Authorities let them easily enter the Red Fort. Deep Sindhu is Amit Shah and (PM Narendra) Modi’s agent.”  Mr Rajewal and other protest leaders accused Punjabi actor Deep Sidhu and a union Punjab Kisan Mazdur Sangharsh Committee of a role in diverting a tractor rally from the agreed routes and moving towards the Red Fort.

Rajewal apologized to the public on Tuesday for the unrest and chaos and said “1st Feb’s march to the parliament is postponed. We will have a jan sabha (public meeting) and Anshan (hunger strike) on January 30 which is Mahatma Gandhi’s death anniversary.”
