FCI Warehouses Of Punjab And Haryana Raided By CBI

CBI raids FCI’s warehouse in Punjab and Haryana


The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in a search operation since last night along with paramilitary forces is raiding 45 warehouses of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) in the states of Punjab and Haryana and is seizing the stock samples of rice and wheat. 

The CBI spokesperson in a statement issued said “CBI teams are checking the quality and quantity of the Central pool food grain stock stores in these godowns. Samples of Central pool food stocks of wheat and rice pertaining to crop year 2019-20 and 2020-21 stored in thes godowns have been drawn.” In Punjab nine godowns were raided in Ludhiana and one each in Mansa and Kapurthala. The godowns searched in Haryana include facilities in Shahbad and Sirsa according to the statement by the CBI.

The raids began late night on Thursday and resumed this morning began in at least 50 godowns which belong to the state agencies such as Pungrain and the state warehousing corporation in Punjab. The state food department clarified that though the food grains are stored and preserved by them but in reality they are the property and responsibility of the FCI.
