Fifth-generation fighter jet being prepared for Air force

First flight will be completed in 2025, work is also being done on non-pilot fighter jet

A fifth-generation fighter aircraft is being designed to keep the Indian Air Force fit for the times and fit for war. Currently, the Indian Air Force has fourth generation and 4.5 generation aircraft. Along with preparing the fifth-generation fighter aircraft, work is also being done on 5.5 generation aircraft which will be unmanned i.e., will fly without a pilot and destroy the enemy. The use of unmanned fighter jets in the risky mission will prove to be very important.

The Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA), an agency under the Ministry of Defense, is preparing Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA). AMCA project director AK Ghosh while talking to NBT said that this fighter jet is a fifth-generation fighter aircraft and is indigenous. Ghosh said that the advanced medium combat aircraft is of double engine. Its design is such that the enemy's radar will have difficulty capturing it. The design of this fighter aircraft has been prepared. Its development will start soon. This first flight will be completed in 2025. Its production will start after 2030. The ADA is also working on the unmanned fighter jet. Ghosh said that after the fifth-generation fighter jet is ready, we will develop it further and make it autonomous. Then this fighter will be able to fly even without a pilot, attacking the enemy. We will call it 5.5 generation aircraft. We are developing its technology right now. After seeing the performance of the fifth-generation aircraft, we will put this technology in it and then make it unmanned. The aircraft being built is in the medium weight category. Aircraft that are between 15 and 25 tons fall into the medium weight category.

What is the difference of generation: Technology changes according to the time and accordingly it is called different generation aircraft. The fighter aircraft that became after 1970–80 was called the fourth generation. The aircraft built in early 2000 are fifth generation aircraft. Ghosh said that in the fourth-generation aircraft, we can add some new technology and modify it, but then it will be called 4.5 generation.
