'Fighter' Drops, Earns ₹7.7 Cr on Day 6

Steady Performance: Hrithik-Deepika Film Maintains Ground


On its sixth day at the box office, "Fighter," featuring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, surprised industry insiders and analysts with an unexpected decline in collections. According to early estimates from Sacnilk.com, the film garnered approximately ₹7.75 crore nett in India on Tuesday, showing a slight decrease compared to the previous day.

 

As per the portal, "Fighter" has accumulated a total business of ₹134.25 crore nett in India. On its sixth day, the film recorded an occupancy of approximately 12.77 percent, with expectations of improvement during the upcoming weekend.

 

Sumit Kadel, a film trade analyst, expressed surprise over the unexpected decline of "Fighter" on Monday, stating that the B and C tier center audience did not support the film significantly post-Friday. This trend is viewed as shocking and concerning for the industry, especially considering that "Fighter" was considered a strong contender for Highest Grosser of the Year (HGOTY), following the similar performance of "Tiger 3" and "Dunki."

 

About Fighter

Despite a strong worldwide collection of ₹225 crore, "Fighter" lags behind director Siddharth Anand's previous films like "Pathaan" and "War" at the box office.

 

"Fighter" features Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor, Karan Singh Grover, and Akshay Oberoi in lead roles. Released exactly a year after "Pathaan" on January 25, just before the extended Republic Day weekend, the film is directed by Siddharth Anand. With positive reviews and strong word of mouth from the audience, it is a collaborative production between Viacom18 Studios and Marflix Pictures.

 

Hrithik on alleged politics of Fighter

 

Addressing reactions about alleged politics in the film, Hrithik Roshan clarified that he doesn't mind such responses, attributing them to director Siddharth's conviction. In an interview with Film Companion, Hrithik expressed his belief in the sophistication of his audience, stating that as an actor, he ensures not to cross any lines.

 

Hrithik Roshan appreciates Siddharth Anand's strong conviction as a filmmaker, acknowledging the challenge of navigating differing perspectives. Despite the weight on his shoulders as the face of the film, Hrithik is relieved that "Fighter" has been received primarily as entertainment.
