Arrested for betting in the cricket match


According to Delhi Police, three property dealers and two-person who dealt in cars business and their business were smashed hard because of the covid-19 pandemic and were arrested for allegedly operating a betting racket related to the ongoing  Indian Premier League (IPL )matches in the United Arab Emirates( U A E).  Delhi Police arrested the betting racket team which was run from a house at Rohini Sector -5  on Monday night.

Deputy commissioner of police (DCP), Rohini Pramod Kumar Mishra, said that " 10 mobile phones, a light-emitting diode( LED )TV, a laptop and eight Diaries that were being used for running the betting racket were sized ". The five arrested accused betting on IPL matches being played between Delhi capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore on Monday. The TV set was being used to watch the live telecast and they used to watch and record the runs, overs, and maintain other betting details on the diary and in the laptop.

The rade was conducted after a Sub Inspector (SI) of Buddh vihar police station, received a notification about the betting racket getting operated in Rohini Sector 5. Arrested accused have been identified as Amarjeet Singh( 42 ), Ravindra Kumar( 40 ), Dharam Veer( 38), Pawan Dahiya (46 )and Akashdeep( 36). Dharmveer and Pawan are used car dealers and the rest are into real estate business.

According to the police, he said that " The arrested accused confessed that they were betting because their businesses were smashed badly during the  covid-19 pandemic and they were doing so to gain financial stability for their business".
