FM inaugurates India’s first 3D printed house


Indian Institute of Technology Madras becomes home to India's first 3D printing house, it was inaugurated by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday, built within 5 days, which is a 600 sq. ft. single story 1 bedroom hall and a kitchen developed with “ concrete 3D printing technology which is build up by “TVASTA Manufacturing Solutions’ on a concept by former alumni, who wishes to send “‘positivity and showcase India’s abilities to the world.” VASTA Manufacturing was set up as part of the new incubator — ASHA Incubator — of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs at IIT Madras.

Speaking after inaugurating the 3D Printed House virtually, Sitharaman spoke about the ‘housing for all scheme by 2022 as stated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was a ‘huge challenge’ in terms of meeting the deadline. In addition, she added the construction of conventional housing is being very complex and the concept of building a house in five days, she doesn't think it will be a massive challenge for building 100 million houses by 2022”.

With the help of TVASTA Manufacturing Solutions by using indigenous methodologies in design and construction till completion, she spoke about how an Indian mind, Indian design, and Indian creativity involved in terms of making this project succeed as Atma nirbhar, she was well impressed by the designed, furthermore giving a greeting to the young entrepreneurs she addressed as per the government viewpoint such project would be helping welfare program in the future, as technology enables deep personalization of construction for the ultimate target segment.
