Former Pakistani PM Imran Khan’s envoy meets with an accident en route Islamabad

Hearings for his Toshakhana case set to resume again

It has been reported by a Pakistan media that a vehicle in former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan's convoy was involved in an accident on his way to Islamabad for the hearing into the Toshakhana case. According to ARY News, the vehicle overturned.

The hearing in Imran Khan's Toshakhana case is set to resume. Despite Pakistan's efforts, the former prime minister has escaped arrest so far. "It is now clear that, despite my having gotten bail in all my cases, the PDM govt intends to arrest me," Imran Khan tweeted ahead of the hearing. Despite knowing their malafide intentions, I am proceeding to Islamabad & the court bec I believe in rule of law. But the nefarious intent of this gang of thugs should be obvious to all."

"It is also clear now that the entire siege of Lahore was not intended to ensure my appearance before a court in a case, but rather to take me away to prison so that I am unable to lead our election campaign," he said in another tweet.

Imran Khan left his residence in Zaman Park in Lahore with a convoy of his party workers, according to the Dawn newspaper, as strict security measures were put in place.

Police has also been deployed in the court and the surrounding areas to provide security to Imran Khan who survived an assassination attempt in November last year. Section 144 of the Pakistani Penal Code prohibits private companies, security guards, and individuals from carrying weapons.

In the most recent hearing, Imran Khan sought the suspension of non-bailable arrest warrants issued against him, which the court denied.

Imran Khan has been accused of buying discounted gifts he received as prime minister from the state depository Toshakhana and reselling them for a profit.
