Foundation of Flyover in Bengal to be laid by PM Modi on Sunday

The flyover project of Bengal would be starting soon, PM to lay down the foundation.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to make major announcements during a visit to Assam and West Bengal on Sunday. While in Bengal, the Premier will lay the foundation stone for important infrastructure projects in Haldia. In the first half of his visit, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of two hospitals in Assam in Deciajuli in Sonitpur district. He will also launch 'Asom Mala', a national highway system and regional highways.

The Prime Minister will be on his way to Bengal on Sunday evening where he will be opening an LPG import center built by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited. The unit, valued at R1,100 million, has a capacity of 1 million metric tons per annum and will provide LPG to families in Bengal and other eastern and north-eastern countries. As part of the Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga project, the Prime Minister will also launch the Dipay-Durgapur Natural Gas Pipeline section. Spreading a distance of 348 km, the Dobi-Durgapur Natural Gas Pipeline section was built at a cost of Rs 2,400 crore.

In addition to contributing to the revitalization of the HURL Sindri fertilizer plant in Jharkhand, the pipeline will also supply gas to the Matix Fertilizer Plant in Durgapur. The Dipipe-Durgapur Natural Gas Pipeline component will also address gas demand for the industrial, commercial and automotive sectors. During a state visit on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the second Catalytic-Isodewaxing unit of the Indian Oil Corporation for Haldia Refinery in West Bengal. According to the Press Information Bureau (PIB), the unit will have a capacity of 270,000 metric tons per annum.

Prime Minister Modi will also pay for the four-lane ROB-cum-flyover Ranichak in West Bengal in Haldia on the National Highway (NH) 41. Built at a cost of Rs 190, the overbridge-cum-flyover railway is intended to ensure uninterrupted traffic from Golaghat to the Haldia Dock Complex and surrounding areas.
