Four Indians Drown at Phillip Island

Details of Fatal Drowning Incident Revealed

On January 25, the Indian High Commission in Canberra reported that four Indians tragically lost their lives in a drowning incident on Phillip Island in Australia's Victoria.

According to official sources, four Indians, including two women, lost their lives in the incident, marking the worst tragedy in Victorian waters in nearly two decades. As reported by news.com, emergency services were alerted to four individuals in distress in the water near Newhaven around 3:30 pm on Wednesday, and unfortunately, all were discovered unresponsive.

Kane Treloar, the state agency commander of Life Saving Victoria, mentioned that they were called to aid four individuals in distress in the waters off Forrest Caves on Phillip Island, just a few kilometers from their patrolled lifeguard site.

Upon reaching the scene, our lifeguards discovered that off-duty lifeguards had already rescued three individuals from the water, while one of our rescue boats retrieved the last person. Unfortunately, all were unconscious and unresponsive, prompting immediate CPR efforts by the rescuers. Despite the collective efforts, three of the individuals, whose names haven't been disclosed by authorities yet, tragically did not survive, as noted by Treloar.

Victoria Police Eastern Region Assistant Commissioner, Karen Nyholm, disclosed on Thursday that the victims were a man and two women in their 20s, along with a woman in her 40s. Nyholm mentioned that it was an extended family group, and the 43-year-old woman who lost her life was on holiday in Australia. Police have confirmed that the other three victims resided in the Melbourne suburb of Clyde.
