On Monday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal during a press conference said, the period of giving free ration is getting over and thus is being extended further six months. Now the facility of giving free ration to the people has been extended till May 31." 


The Delhi government extended the free ration scheme for another 6 months in the National capital. This free ration scheme benefits around 72.77 lakh people.


According to the eligibility prescribed under the National food security (NFS) Act 2013, five kg of food grains are given at free of cost to the needy people including migrant workers, unorganised workers, construction workers, domestic helpers, and those who don't have ration cards. 4 kg wheat, 5kg ration and 1 kg rice per person per month is provided.


As per the information, these kits are only being provided to the needy ones, including migrant labour, organized workers, domestic helpers who don't have a ration card.


According to the statement, Delhi CM wrote a letter stating, "The common man is finding it difficult to get two square meals. In such a situation, I request you to further extend this scheme of giving additional free ration to the people for six more months. "Meanwhile, the centre has also extended the Pradhan Mantri Garib Anna Yojana till March 2022.
