On Wednesday, October 7, 2020 evening an 18 years old boy, student of Delhi University was beaten to death allegedly over his friendship with the girl in Delhi's Adarsh Nagar, stated by police. On Friday October 9, 2020, five people including the girl's brothers, have been arrested by Delhi Police.The police said they have arrested the girl's brothers and three juveniles who are connected with this incident.
The victim has been identified as Rahul Rajput, he was a second year student in Delhi University's School of Open Learning. He used to give tuition to school students. According to the police, the boy had a friendship with a girl, they were from the same locality but the girl's family was against their friendship.

A senior police officer said the victim was called to Nanda Road for some reason on Wednesday, October 7, 2020. When he reached the spot he was allegedly physically assaulted by a group of five people, which includes the girl's brothers.The officer also stated that he got severe injuries in that assault, his uncle came at the spot and took him to the hospital where he died during the treatment. Vijayanta Arya, Deputy Commissioner of Police (northwest) said "The deceased did not have any visible injury. A post-mortem examination was conducted, and the doctor opined that rupturing of the spleen led to his death."

The deceased's uncle gave a statement that his nephew and the girl knew each other from past two years, they were very good friends, they lived in the same locality but the girl's brothers never liked their friendship. The girl's brothers also threatened him and his nephew before the incident. The uncle added, the accused told him that his nephew did not stop talking to their sister. They said if he continued to speak to her, they would kill him.

The uncle said in his complaint, "On Wednesday, around 7 pm, I got a call from my friend to inform me that four-five people were beating my nephew. When I reached the place, I found that my nephew was being beaten up brutally by the girl's brothers and their associates. They slapped, punched and kicked him."A case was registered against the accused  under section 302 (murder) and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC based on a statement of the deceased's uncle, said by the officer.
