FSSAI Issues10 Points On Right Way To Eat Egg And Chicken

FSSAI 10-point guidance document to fight bird flu.

The avian influenza most commonly known as bird flu has been confirmed in several states including Delhi and Maharashtra. As a preventive measure many banned the sale of egg and chicken and slowly the ban is being lifted now. FSSAI issued a 10-point guide on how to eat egg and chicken the right way as many confusions still persist around the flu.  The ‘guidance document’ on Thursday was released on the official website of FSSAI.

Here are the 10 point guides of precautionary measures that FSSAI released:

1.      Do not eat half boiled eggs.

2.      Do not eat undercooked chicken.

3.      Avoid direct contact with birds in the infected areas.

4.      Avoid touching dead birds with bare hands.

5.      Do not keep raw meat in open.

6.      No direct contact with raw meat.

7.      Uses a mask and glove at the time of handling raw chicken.

8.      Wash hands frequently.

9.      Maintain the cleanliness of surroundings.

10.  Eat chicken, eggs and their products after cooking.

If held for about three seconds the virus is destroyed at seventy degree celsius noted the FSSAI document. Cooking of chicken and eggs at a temperature of seventy degree celsius or more will most likely inactivate the virus. The temperature is the key to fight the flu in the right way. FAASI has urged people not to panic and cause further confusion.
