In West Bengal's Purba Bardhaman district, A 15-year-old girl has allegedly been gang-raped. today police said one of the accused has been arrested.
An officer said, On Thursday, the incident happened in the evening when the class 9 student went out to the market.
The police told PTI, "The arrested accused is an e-rickshaw driver. On the day of the incident, he saw her walking on the road and offered to drop her to the market."
He further added, "But on the way, another accused got on the vehicle and the two men took the girl to a vacant place and gang-raped her."
"The two accused men left her at the spot and fled away from there. She then returned to the market and told the locals about the incident, who then informed her guardians," the officer said. The survivor is undergoing treatment at a hospital.
The girl's family members filed a police complaint, after which the e-rickshaw driver was arrested on Friday, and a search has been going on to arrest the other accused, he said.
The officer further added, the arrested accused was produced before the Court, which sent him to three days in police custody.
