GIRL DRAGGED TILL DEATH

A 20-year-old girl was hit on her scooty by a car in the early hours of the New Year and dragged nearly 4 kilometers for 1.5 hours to death in the Delhi Sultanpur area.  After being hit by the Maruti Suzuki Baleno she got stuck in one of the wheels; the car was driven by five people who were badly drunk.

An eyewitness of the incident, Deepak Dhaiya said, “He runs a confectionery shop in Ladpur village when he heard a loud sound 100 meters away, and thought that it was a tire burst. Afterward, he saw a car moving in which a girl got stuck and dragged for nearly 4 km. I tried to stop the driver but the car glasses were up and the music volume is high.”

“He dialed the police helpline and shared the details with them. He chased the car with his bike and update the search team about the mishap”, further added.

Nearly after one and a half hours the body fell from the car near Jyoti village on khanjwala road. The PCR reached the crime spot and found the body naked and the clothes were torn even though the sides of the body got ripped, the girl was identified as Anjali. She was sent to SGM hospital Magolpuri where she was declared dead.

Delhi lieutenant Governor VK Saxena tweeted that "My head hangs in shame over the inhuman crime in Kanjhawla-Sultanpuri today morning and I am shocked at the monstrous insensitivity of the perpetrators. Have been monitoring with the Commissioner of Police, Delhi and the accused have been apprehended. All aspects are being thoroughly looked into. He further added that he ensure any possible support to the family of the victim”.

Swati Maliwal, the Delhi Commission of women chief also took insight into the incident and shared a notice with Delhi police.

The police traced the car and five accused were arrested.
