Victim's Body Found Hanging in the House…

On Wednesday, A girl was allegedly raped and murdered in Nagla Shisham village in Uttar Pradesh, said the Superintendent of Police (SP) Mainpuri, Kamlesh Dixit.

"Police received information about the rape and murder of the girl in Nagla Shisham village. Police reached the spot and immediate action was taken. Action will be taken by arresting the guilty soon," he added.

The body of the victim was found hanging in the house under suspicious circumstances. The father of the victim had gone to the Mainpuri for work while the mother had gone to Agra.

When the Victim’s younger sister returned from coaching, she saw through the window of the door, the sister's body was hanging on the noose.

The police have sent the body of the girl to the district headquarters mortuary for post-mortem.

"The sister of the victim told the police that the accused Pushpendra strangled her sister to death," he added.

On Wednesday, India has recorded an average of 80 murders and 77 rape cases daily in 2020, National Crime Records Bureau's report revealed. With an average of 80 murders daily in 2020, India reported a total of 29,193 fatalities in 2020 with UP topping the chart among states.

The data showed a slight increase of 1 per cent over a total of 28,915 murders in 2019, with a daily average of 79 killings in year 2022.

Among states, UP reported the maximum of 3,779 murder cases in 2020 followed by Bihar with 3,150 cases, in Maharashtra 2,163 cases were registered, 2,101 cases in Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal lodged 1,948 murder cases, the data stated.
