Failed kidnapping, lead into shooting leaving a girl dead in Faridabad.

A 21-year-old woman was shot dead outside her in Ballabgarh in Haryana’s Faridabad district on Monday, with police launching a manhunt to arrest two people in connection with the crime.

The incident took place around 3.45pm, when the victim, Nikita Tomar, came out of her college after giving her exam. She was studying in B.Com final year, Jaiveer Singh Rathi, ACP, Ballabgarh, said. As the girl stepped out of the Aggarwal college with her friend, an i20 car with two occupants inside stopped by her side and tried to pull the woman inside, in a possible bid to kidnap her, but she resisted while one of the accused shot her. The shooter and his associate then got into their car and drove away.

The girl was shot in the chest and fell down bleeding heavily. She was taken to the hospital, but succumbed to injuries, the ACP said. He said, during the preliminary investigation, it has emerged that one of accuse was known to her and identified as Tausif, who studied with Tomar till class X. He had also kidnapped her in 2017 in what police said was a one-sided love affair. The family had lodged an FIR but later withdrew case due to social stigma and allegedly keep their daughter out of any legal procedure. However, the accused continue to harass her.

“One of the accused has been identified as Tausif, a resident of Sohna. He was known to the victim and her family had lodged a complaint for harassment and molestation before. Both parties subsequently reached a compromise,” said Ballabgarh ACP Jaiveer Rathi.

Tomar lived with her family in Sector 23 of SGM Nagar of Faridabad. He said while the exact cause of the murder is yet to ascertain, he said that rejection of friendship by the girl could be the reason behind it. Forensic team has collected evidence from the incident spot while a case has been registered and the matter is further being investigated, police said.
