Girl strangled and set on fire, ex-boyfriend arrested.

Accuse was furious over the woman’s relationship with another man.

Snehalatha, who worked at the State Bank of India, was allegedly murdered by her former boyfriend, who then set her body on fire in Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh. Family of the victim filed a missing complaint as she did not returned home after which police launched a search operation and found her dead body at an isolated field around 25 kms from her workplace.

The accused is identified as Gooty Rajesh, who worked as a mason and dated the accused. According to the police, the 19-year old victim distanced herself from Rajesh after she got a contract job in the bank. Later in college she grew close to her classmate which allegedly infuriated Rajesh, who then framed her murder.

Rajesh called Snehalatha for a meeting on Tuesday and took her to an isolated place on his bike. During her argument over her relationship with her classmate Rajesh allegedly got angry and strangled, police said.

“En route to Ananthapuramu, Gooty Rajesh stopped the bike near a field at Badanapalli and starting questioning her about her intimacy with Praveen (her classmate). This resulted in an arguement. He choked her to death and to conceal the identity, he burnt her bank papers and put it on her body, due to which her body was partially burnt. No sexually assault or intercourse took place,” said senior police officer Bhusarapu Sathya Yesu Babu.

He further added, “during the course of investigation, the main accused Gooty Rajesh was taken into custody. He confessed his crime and we also recovered the mobile phone of the victim, which was hidden by him. The call analysis revealed that the girl and the accused were in close contact with each other and 1618 calls took place between the two in a year.”

According to Snehalatha’s family, Rajesh used to stalk her and her mother also named a friend of Rajesh named Karthik, as a co-conspirator. An investigation is on-going by the police for his possible role in the crime.
