Goa to start 'Pink Rickshaw' service to boost employment for women: CM

Currently 17 women are being trained to get a job under this initiative!


Goa is all set to begin pink rickshaw services in the state. This initiative will help in bringing employment to women.

 

The Chief Minister of Goa, Pramod Sawant, announced that to boost women's employment in the state, this new initiative has been launched.

 

The state government will launch a ‘Pink Rickshaw’ scheme for empowering women in Goa, through its Economic Development Corporation, said Goa CM on Thursday.

 

Partnered with the Rotary club for the initiative, the amount for the new fleet will be disbursed through the Chief Minister's Rojgar Yojana in Goa.

 

EDC (Economic Development Corporation) always helps with such innovative initiatives. Women who want to become self-employed and take up rickshaw business can avail of the scheme,” the chief minister said.

 

Goa police launched a special pink police force last December to prevent crimes against women and children. The pink force operates at 11 police stations and covers all others. Goa was the first state to introduce such a force.

 

Sawant said that EDC has done good business in the last three years. “EDC is the only company of the government which is making a profit,” he said.

 

Meanwhile with the hit of the Deadly Covid-19 virus in the country. The unemployment rate is high which is hampering the daily livelihood needs and requirements. 

 

The state is also gearing up towards women and employment to support women's society and indulge them in several activities.
