Gold at the airport

Gold worth Rs. 7.89 crores seized


On 22 February 2023, the gold was seized at Rajiv Gandhi international airport but the Air intelligence unit of custom department of Hyderabad that was in coordination with the batch officer of custom department of airport.

 

As per the information received 4 people were arrested along with gold nearly of 14.9063 kg.

 

Following the details, the airport authority confirmed that the passengers were heading from the Sudan via Sharjan by the flight number G9 458 on Wednesday at 4 AM. They further confirmed that they all are citizen of Sudan.

 

The passangers have hide the golds in small cabin under shoes and in the folds of clothes. Approximately 14.415 kg of gold is of 22 Karat and the rest of gold is of 24 karat that cost around Rs. 7,89,43,544.
