Guwahati police recovered opium and gold...


The government railway of police (GRP) of Guwahati Railway police station recovered 4 gold biscuits weighted around 1 kg and 4.89 kg of opium from two trains that was going towards the national capital.

 

As per the information received from the Guwahati Railway personnel, that they have recovered approximately 4.89 kg of opium and gold during a regular checking. They further added that they have arrested 2 people from Tejas Express and a bag from different train that have opium. 

 

The smuggling cost nearly Rs 58 lakhs that was recovered. The smugglers were hailing from Manipur and traveling to Delhi.

 

Following the information the officer-in-charge of the GRP Guwahati, Prasenjit Das informed that they have found 5 packet of opium worth Rs 25 lakhs from a abandoned bag and the market value of seized gold is around 58 lakhs that got recovered from Tejas Express along with two people.

 

Further investigation is underway.
