Gold worth Rs. 3.8 crore seized at the Coimbatore airport...

One passenger was arrested at the airport.


On 10 March 2023, the directorate of Revenue Intelligence along with the airport authority seized foreign origin gold weighing nearly 6.62 kilograms, that worth approximately of Rs. 3.8 crores, from the Coimbatore airport in Tamil Nadu.

 

As per the information, nearly 11 passengers stopped who were traveling from Sarjah to Coimbatore, and one of them was arrested by the team after they seized gold from his assets.

 

The accused has been identified as Arjunan (43), a resident of Kallakurichi district.

 

Further investigations are underway.

 

In another incident, two passengers were arrested at Chennai airport who were traveling from Singapore carrying gold weighing approximately 6.8kg.
