Googles joins the likes of tech giant Microsoft and Amazon...

On Friday Google parent Alphabet shared the news that it will cut down 12000 employees from its workforce amid difficulties being faced by the company. This news comes after tech giants Amazon and Microsoft also broke out the news of laying off their employee’s m.

Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google and parent company Alphabet, said in an email sent to the company's staff on Friday that the firm will begin making layoffs in the U.S. immediately. In other countries, the process "will take longer due to local laws and practices," he said.

Tech companies are facing major difficulties now because of global recession which has compelled many companies to cut down on its employees. Pichai mentions in the email that he is deeply sorry for this outcome and regrets losing out on talented people in the company.

The web search and video sharing giant will offer U.S.-based employees 16 weeks of severance pay plus two weeks for each additional year they've worked at Google, Pichai added.  However, this support plan is only applicable to US employees. Employees outside US will be supported in line with the local practices says Pichai..
