Governance has failed at G20 meeting, PM Modi address

An important issue has been discussed at the meeting was Russia's war in Ukraine.....


Prime Minister Narendra Modi has criticized global institutions for failing to address the world’s biggest challenges, calling on countries to find common ground on divisive issues.

 

On Thursday, in New Delhi at the opening of the G20 foreign minister's meeting, Modi address that countries should acknowledge that multilateralism is currently "in crisis".

 

“The experience of the last few years – financial crisis, climate change, pandemic, terrorism and wars – clearly shows that global governance has failed,” Modi stated in a recorded statement.

 

“We should not allow issues that we cannot resolve together to come in the way of those we can,” Modi added.

 

 

One important issue that has been discussed at the meeting was Russia's war in Ukraine, however New Delhi has seen to be keen towards discussing issues which were affecting the Global South such as poverty eradication and climate finance.

 

 

Indian Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra on Wednesday said, New Delhi anticipated economic challenges related to the conflict getting equal attention as the war itself.

 

 

Although Modi, told Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a face-to-face meeting that, “I know today’s time is not a time for war" in September. 

 

 

In bengluru after gathering of finance ministers last month the G20 foreign minister's meeting comes, which was failed to agree at a joint statement on the war. 

 

At that meeting, Modi called on leading economies to help the world’s most vulnerable people and “bring back stability, confidence and growth to the global economy”.
