Gujarat HC Bans Public Entry In The Court

Amid the surge in cases of Covid and omicron, the states and UTs are implementing guidelines and restrictions to curb the infection level in their respective places. The Gujarat High court bans public entry in the court and issues a circular banning entry of litigant public and mandates screening in the premises.

 

According to the information, canteens of the court premises have been shut down. Screening of persons getting inside the premises has been made Mandatory, appropriate social distancing must be followed inside the court and the information mentions that people entering inside the court must follow and co-operate with the medical team.

 

As per the information given by the court in a circular, it read, "It is hereby to all the concerned that in view of the present pandemic crisis, following directions have been issued by the Chief Justice on the recommendation of the standard operating procedure committee to be effective from January 5, 2022. For the purpose." It also said, there shall be no entry of the litigant public to the high court premises. It mentions that the party in person shall be permitted entry to the court premises only on production of a certificate issued 48 hours previous to the date of hearing, certifying the person is negative from COVID infection.

 

On Wednesday, the Gujarat state reports 3,350 cases of Covid during the last 24 hours. The active cases reached over 10,000 in the state. Around 50 cases of Omicron have been reported in the state which took the overall tally to 92.
