Gupkar Alliance to attend meeting

Gupkar Alliance of Jammu and Kashmir led by veteran politician Farooq Abdullah will attend an all-party meeting on this June 24 with Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi.


Couple of days before, PM Modi called the all-party meeting amid reports that the Centre government may discuss about restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, as per the sources. 

Mehbooba Mufti also participated in the second meeting of the People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) and discuss about the Centre's invitation for the all-party meeting with the Prime Minister of India and also Taken a initiative towards states. The Gupkar Alliance is a seven-party alliance of mainstream parties created to campaign for the purpose of restoration of special status to J&K. Dr Abdullah told reporters after today's meeting "Mehbooba-ji, Md Tarigami sahib and I will attend the all-party meeting called by PM. We hope to keep our agenda before PM and HM (Home Minister)". 

Alliance member Muzaffar Shah, "Statehood (for Jammu and Kashmir) is the Prime Minister's own commitment. They won't be doing us a favour by giving us statehood back. Gupkar Alliance has been formed for the restoration of what was taken away from us on August 5, 2019," Ms Mufti told to the sources "There can be no compromise on Article 370 and 35A," said the sources.

Home Minister of India Amit Shah met Ajit Doval, who is the National Security Adviser, Lieutenant Governor of J&K Manoj Sinha and top security and intelligence officers on last friday. In mid of 2019, the Centre government ended the special status to Jammu and Kashmir and divided the state into two Union Territories name as Ladakh and J&K.
