Gurugram Man Kills Wife, Leaves Son Locked with Body

Suspected Culprit Dies by Suicide

In Gurugram, a man took his own life hours after fatally harming his wife. Their two-year-old son was found beside the tragic scene, as reported by the police on Monday.

According to the police, the man reportedly fled the scene and later took his own life by allegedly jumping from the Kaushambi metro station in Ghaziabad.

Police reported that Gaurav Sharma, aged 30, allegedly used a sharp-edged weapon to slit his wife's throat and struck her head with a brick. Additionally, they stated that the man also assaulted his son with a brick.

The victim, identified as Laxmi Rawat, 24, was the wife of Gaurav Sharma.

The police reported that neighbors, upon hearing the cries of the boy inside a house in DLF Phase 3, alerted the security guard. Upon finding the house locked, the guard called the police late on Sunday night.

Upon arrival, officials broke open the door and discovered the lifeless body of the woman and the injured child crying nearby.

The police mentioned that the mobile phone of the deceased woman was discovered on the toilet seat.

The injured child was promptly transported to a civil hospital, and subsequently referred to Delhi's Safdarjung hospital. Eventually, he was entrusted to the woman's family members, who took him to their hometown in Agra.

Laxmi, originally from Agra, was residing in Gurugram with her husband, Gaurav. The couple had moved to Gurugram around six months ago.

According to the police, Gaurav, who had previously worked with a private company, was currently unemployed.

The police suspect that a heated argument between the couple escalated into a violent altercation, resulting in the woman's death as she was struck with a brick.

Inspector Dinkar from DLF Phase-3 police station stated, "All circumstantial evidence points to Gaurav Sharma, who committed suicide, as the perpetrator of his wife Laxmi's murder. We have filed an FIR of murder against him."

Gaurav's phone was found out of service, but a breakthrough came when the police received information around 11:45 pm that a person had allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the Kaushambi metro station in Ghaziabad.

The police reported that a team reached Kaushambi and confirmed the identity of the deceased as Gaurav Sharma.

Trans Hindon Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Shubham Patel stated that the body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem.
