Harnaaz Sandhu represented the country at the 70th Miss Universe 2021; the Punjab-based Harnaaz Sandhu has won the title and made her place for Miss Universe crown.

After Lara Dutta, Harnaaz Sandhu becomes the next to wear the crown for Miss Universe. The 21-year-old entered the top three finalists at the 70th edition of Miss Universe, which was held in Eilat, Israel. She joined fellow contestants from Paraguay and South Africa in the final leg of the contest to win the crown. Harnaaz was presented the crown by Andrea Meza, former Miss Universe 2020 from Mexico at the event. The event was also streamed live globally.

As per the information, Sandhu is currently pursuing her Master's degree in public administration. She holds multiple pageants like Femina Miss India Punjab 2019. She is fluent in Hindi, Punjabi, and English language. Also, she is inspired by her mother who broke generations of patriarchy to become a successful gynecologist and lead her family.

As part of the top three rounds, the contestants were asked," what advice would you give to the young women watching on how to deal with the pressures they face today" she said, "the biggest pressure the youth of today is facing, is to believe in themselves. To know that you are unique makes you beautiful. Stop comparing yourself with others and let's talk about more important things that are happening worldwide. Come out; speak for yourself, because you are the leader of your life. You are the voice of your own. I believed in myself and that's why I am standing here today."

India has won the crown twice before Harnaaz Sandhu, the first one with Sushmita Sen in 1994, second with Lara Dutta in 2000 so far.
