Haryana "Intentionally" Diverting Water Towards Delhi; Says AAP Leaders

Bad Weather Conditions

On Friday, Aam Aadmi Party alleged the BJP of using the Haryana government to "intentionally" divert water toward the National Capital through Hathnikund Barrage.

The state government said that the AAP's claims were 'misleading' and that water with a flow of over 1 lakh cusecs cannot be discharged into other sides.

The Department of Information and Public Relations said that as per Central Water Commission (CWC) guidelines, water with a flow of over 1 lakh cusecs cannot be discharged into Western Yamuna and Eastern Yamuna Canals.

"Retired IAS and Advisor to Chief Minister of Haryana Devendra Singh said that as per CWC guidelines, if the water flow in Hathnikund barrage is more than 1 lakh cusecs, the water will flow into Western Yamuna and Eastern Yamuna Canal due to large boulders cannot be discharged," DIPR Haryana said in a series of tweets.

"This may damage the barrage structures," DIPR said.
