Haryana Police Blazes Water Cannons On Farmers Marching Towards Delhi

Water cannons used in parts of Haryana Against Farmer Protest

Hundreds of farmers led by the Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKS) chief Gurnam Singh Charuni overstepped Ambala and Pilli in Kurukshetra on Wednesday after shattering barricades and facing water cannons. The farmers continued to march towards Delhi to dissent against the three farm laws.

Over the ‘Delhi Chalo’ call specified by various farm unions a large group of farmers under the flag of Sanyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) from various districts containing Ambala, Kurukshetra and Yamunanagar gathered near the Mohra grain market in Ambala on the NH-44. The farmers started to march towards Delhi raising anti-Government slogans. In no time the angry agitating farmers broke the barricades near Farauli village that were put up by the Ambala administration. The police’s Rapid Action Force was also deployed and after the removal of the barricades langar was served to the farmers in the middle of the splashes.

The farmers further started proceeding on their tractors and other vehicles with their uncompromising mood forcing police men to pave ways for them to move forward.“Our fight is not against the government. We want to reach Delhi to raise our voice against wrong practices by the Union Government. We have been protesting and raising our voice for the past four months, but no attention was paid. The state government should not try to disturb our march and let us go peacefully; otherwise it will be responsible for the consequences. We will reach Delhi at any cost,” said Churani. He further added by saying, at present we are camping at Samanabahu village and the protest will resume to march towards Delhi at 8AM on Thursday morning.

“Our purpose was to ensure that the law and order situation remained under control. Traffic was diverted and a large number of farmers went back,” said DC of Ambala, Ashok Sharma.

The barricades were put up near Tyora village in Kurukshetra by the Kurukshetra administration. Furious farmers nearly after two hours managed to break barricades and continued to march. The police failed to stop the farmers even after using water cannons on them.
