WEB PORTAL FOR COVID-19 VACCINE LAUNCHED


 

The Union Health Ministry has launched an online web portal for coronavirus vaccine and clinical registry portal on Monday.

This web portal will provide all the important information of COVID-19 vaccine development, about its ongoing clinical trials, launching date, and progress made in India as well as globally.

 

This 'vaccine web portal' and the 'National Clinical Registry for COVID-19' is developed by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and was launched by Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan.

 

The National Clinical Registry of  COVID-19 will collect each and every systematic data on all the clinical signs and symptoms, laboratory investigations, management protocols, of the clinical course of COVID-19 and disease range and outcomes from patients.

 

ICMR Stated that  "This data will serve as an invaluable tool for formulating appropriate patient management strategies, predicting surveys, patient outcomes and many more".

The vaccine portal will contain all the information regarding Indian efforts towards the development of a vaccine against COVID-19.

 

Adding that "Interested people can reach on the web portal on vaccine.icmr.org.in to get the latest updates on vaccine development,"

 

Harsh Vardhan, he added that "Today, in the times of COVID-19 pandemic where development of a vaccine is being watched closely. Thus, it becomes an important platform to showcase the status of vaccine development in our country ".

 

  Further the Health minister also stated that -"India's fight against COVID-19 is continuously rising and the recovery rate and progressively falling case and fatality rate in the country have proven towards the success of the COVID-19 containment strategy followed by all states and Union Territories".

"From having one laboratory (for COVID-19 testing) to over 1,800 today, he said that has come a  long way in strengthening our capacities. We have successfully ramped up our testing capacity and that has touched almost around 15 lakh in daily tests ".

 

Further added more than the "Healthcare personnel work selflessly to serve the people "even at a time when the resources are limited" due to coronavirus.

 

Apart from the 'vaccine web portal' and the 'National Clinical Registry for COVID-19',  the health minister also unveiled a timeline representing the ICMR's historical achievements and inaugurated apex health research body's mobile stroke unit".

Vardhan unveiled the timeline about the ICMR depicting the 108-year  journey of the body since its beginning in 1911 when it was known as Indian Research Fund Association.

 

Vardhan said, " ICMR has always been at the forefront of health research in India and is now leading the country in tackling the unprecedented pandemic through scientific innovation.

"It has contributed immensely towards the welfare of the nation. Through these exhibits, people will take pride in knowing  about the contributions of ICMR and the country in the area of medical science."

 

Initiating the mobile stroke unit, Vardhan said it is disheartening to see the weakness of people to heart disease and hypertension and timely treatment can reduce fatality and prevent people from disability.
