Heatwave conditions to prevail in Delhi, IMD predicts rain from 10 July. The Capital has reeled under a heatwave on july 43.1 degrees Celsius and july 2 with 41.3 degrees Celsius


On Wednesday, The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the National Capital along with other parts of North India will continue to reel under the ongoing Heatwave with the maximum temperature reaching 42.6 degrees Celsius, which is six degrees above normal for this time of the year. Meanwhile, the National Capital on Wednesday recorded the third heatwave day in July.

According to the weather department, isolated parts of North India including Delhi, are likely to witness similar heatwave conditions on Thursday as well. The highest temperature in North India was recorded in Rajasthan's Sriganganagar which witnessed 45.5 degrees Celsius yesterday. 

According to the statement given by IMD, a heatwave is declared when the maximum temperature is more than 40 degrees Celsius and at least 4.5 notches above normal, while a severe heatwave is declared if the departure from the normal temperature is more than 6.5 degrees Celsius. 

Meanwhile, IMD has also stated a drop in temperature and predicted heavy rain in the districts of Udaipur, Kota division.  Bikaner, Churu, Hanumangarh and Sriganganagar will receive monsoon rains from July 11 and 13.
