Heavy rain causes waterlogging, traffic jams in parts of Delhi

Zakhira underpass was closed due to waterlogging in the capital city.


The national capital has been witnessing heavy rains since 31st August. The city has been flooded with water and heavy flow of water on the roads has led to disturbance in traffic. 

The Delhi police issued an advisory against traffic obstruction at Azad market subway going towards Pratap Nagar due to severe waterlogging on the road.  Whereas the Zakhira underpass was closed due to waterlogging and traffic police advised to take an alternative route from Anand Parbat/Roshanara road. Meanwhile, the traffic was slowed down on the Minto road.

According to ANI, the movement of at least 15 trains was affected after a culvert was washed away causing the formation of a 20 feet deep pit.

Meanwhile, an orange alert has been issued in the national capital by India Meteorological Department (IMD) after rain lashed the city. Many viral videos of buses, cars and other vehicles were seen floating on the road, which disturbed the traffic of the respective area.
