Heavy rain in some parts of Delhi

Caused waterlogging and traffic jams


New Delhi: This morning, Delhi and the National Capital Region were hit by heavy rain and blustery winds, which caused waterlogging and traffic jams in several parts of the city.

 

Over the next five days, the weather forecast for Delhi calls for mainly cloudy conditions with light to moderate rain.

 

Some parts of South West Delhi, including Vasant Vihar, Munirka, and RK Puram, had light rain early this morning.

 

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that after 9:30 am today, periods of light rain and strong gusts would start to pass.

 

"Heavy rain moving in from the north toward Delhi NCR. Soon, it may encompass the entire city of Delhi, according to weather forecasting service Skymet.

 

Thursday saw a maximum temperature in Delhi of 37.6 degrees Celsius, which is four degrees more than normal for this time of year. The lowest temperature recorded was 27.8 °C.

 

Due to clouds moving in from the northwest Uttar Pradesh till approximately 09:30 today, Delhi-NCR is most likely to encounter gusts of wind that reach speeds of 50 to 70 kmph and moderate rain with a few isolated strong spells. After that, the gusts of wind and rain will gradually decreased. IMD weather bulletin from today at 7:29 a.m.: "Be informed and stay safe."
