High-Level Ammonia In Yamuna: Delhi Jal Board

Water supply to hit in various Parts


On Wednesday, A High level of Ammonia was observed, due to the discharge of pollutants from Haryana which had led to a 50 percent reduction in production at wazirabad, Chandrawal, and Okhla water plants. 


According to an official it said, this will affect the water supply in several parts of the National capital. The WTPs at Chandrawal, Wazirabad, and Okhla can treat upto 90 million gallons of water a day,135 MGD and 20 MGD respectively.

 

It also said the ammonia level is Five parts per million at present. It also said, the treatment capacity at the three WTPs has reduced by 50 percent." Water supply will remain affected on the morning of January 13 and so on till the ammonia level in the river reduces to a treatable limit " said the official.


According to the statement given by Delhi Jal Board, "Due to continuous discharge of high level of pollutants from Haryana, the ammonia level in river Yamuna At wazirabad Barrage has increased and water production has been curtailed from water treatment plants at wazirabad,chandrawal, and okhla."


As per the information, it mentioned few areas which will be seen affected in getting proper water supply are, civil lines, Hindu Rao hospital, Kamla Nagar, Karol bagh, Pahar ganj, old and new Rajinder Nagar, Baljeet Nagar, Kalkaji, Prem Nagar, Govindpuri, tughlakabad, Sangam vihar, Ambedkar Nagar, Ramleela ground, model town, moolchand, Punjabi bagh, Greater Kailash, Burari and other parts.
