Highest Dengue cases recorded in Delhi since 2015

Delhi recorded about 2,570 new cases in last week


On Monday, 22 November 2021, according to a civic report, In Delhi the number of dengue cases has surpassed 5,270, the highest in the national capital in a year since 2015.


According to the report on Dengue, the city recorded about 2,570 new cases last week. However, no death has been reported so far. A total number of 5,277 dengue cases were reported this year till November 13.


In September, 217 cases were reported, which was the highest monthly total in the last three years. This is also the largest number of dengue-related deaths in the national capital in a year since 2017 when the official death toll was 10.

 

 

Malaria causing mosquito larvae develop in unclean water, while dengue mosquito larvae develop in clear and standing water. Vector-borne disease cases are most common in between July and November but might last till mid-December.


A total of 166 cases of malaria and 89 cases of chikungunya have also been recorded in Delhi until November 13 this year. As high fever is associated with malaria, dengue, and chikungunya, experts believe that people may fear they have suffered from COVID-19. All Civic bodies have increased the fogging and spraying efforts in response to an increase in dengue cases.
