Himachal Pradesh schools to remain close till September 21 due to spike in Covid-19 cases

On Monday, the state witnessed more than 1,500 active cases of Covid-19.


Amid rising cases of Covid-19, schools and educational institutions of few states have again been closed. Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh government has announced that schools will remain closed till September 21. As per the statement, the Himachal Pradesh government has deferred the reopening of schools for regular classes for one more week due to the Covid-19 situation.

The order comes after the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) issued orders to this effect late on Monday. Whereas the schools were re-opened for classes 9-12 on August 2 after witnessing a decline in Covid-19 cases but were later closed due to increase in daily caseload.

Meanwhile, on Monday, the state witnessed more than 1,500 active cases. The state has been reporting an average of 200 daily cases of Covid-19 and the positivity rate touched to 2% from 0.9% in July.
