120 People Trapped on Hong Kong Trade Center Roof


Hong Kong: On Wednesday, about 150 people were trapped on the roof of Hong Kong's World Trade Centre after a fire broke out in the building located in the bustling commercial and shopping district of Causeway Bay, police said.

 

The government said, Firefighters were battling with two water jets, employing ladders and breathing apparatus in the effort to rescue the trapped people.

 

Broadcaster RTHK told police that about 100 people moved from a restaurant to the 39th floor of the centre when the fire broke out and smoke filled the dining area.

 

Police said, 7 women and a man were among the eight people who were taken to hospital, out of them, one of them was semi-conscious.

Outside the building, the situation was calm after firefighters cordoned off the area.
