Hot rod for Treating Pneumonia

A 3 months baby died due to cruel treatment...

On 4 February 2023, a 3-month-old baby died after 15 days of survival at the hospital due to cruel treatment done by a quack. The girl was poked by the hot iron rod in her stomach nearly 51 times to cure pneumonia. Later, when the child feels breathing difficulty admitted to the hospital.

As per the information received from the official that the body of her buried will be taken out for the postmortem procedure on Saturday. The incident took place in a tribal-dominated area in the Shahdol district of Madhya Pradesh.

According to the Shahdol collector Vandana vaidh, a local Anganwadi worker stopped the mother of the deceased for poking the child with a hot iron rod as in many tribal areas of Madhya Pradesh this practice is common.

Following the incident, Dr. Vikrant Bhuria, doctor and president of the youth congress informed that poking with bars can lead to death and infection. He further requested the chief medical officer to register the complaint and take strict action against such practices.
